How to download Douyin videos

On iPhone

Open Douyin and find the video you want. Tap the share arrow on the right side of the screen, then tap Copy link. Douyin copies a short v.douyin.com address, usually with a line of Chinese text around it.

Open Safari, come to this page and long-press the input box, then choose Paste. Press Download, wait a couple of seconds, and pick HD MP4.

Safari asks you to confirm the download. The file lands in the Files app under Downloads. To move it into your camera roll, open Files, press and hold the video and choose Save to Photos.

On Android

Copy the link the same way: share arrow, then Copy link. Open Chrome, paste it into the box on this page and press Download.

Chrome saves the MP4 into your Download folder. Most gallery apps show it within a minute; if yours does not, any file manager will find it under Download.

On a computer

Open the video on douyin.com and copy the address from the browser bar. It will look like www.douyin.com/video/ followed by a long number.

Paste it here, press Download, and choose the quality you want. The file goes to your normal Downloads folder, ready for any editor or player.

If you only want the sound

Follow the same steps, then press the MP3 button on the result card instead of the video button. You get the audio track as a standalone MP3 file, which is the quickest way to grab a trending sound.

If the link will not work

Check that the link points to a single video and not to a profile page, a hashtag or a live stream. Only single posts can be downloaded.

Copy the link again from the app. Share links carry a signature that expires, and an old link pasted from a chat can simply stop working.

If the post is private or has been deleted, nothing will get it back. Douyin stops serving those files to everyone, not just to this tool.
